Hearts and flowers...

I have been busy finishing off some new Teeny Tiny Tags. I couldn't resist making these little hearts and flowers with the MoYa yarn. Yes, I can't get enough of this beautiful yarn! It is so lovely to crochet with and the hand dyed colours are beautiful.

I used white cardstock and my cuttlebug to emboss the designs onto the tags.  The ribbon adds an extra special touch and will make any gift look pretty.

I found some cute little heart buttons and a simple teeny tiny white buttons for the centre.

It is a real winters day here in Cape Town today with rain and clouds over all the mountains. The perfect weather for a cup of coffee and warm blankets and finding time to do some CREATING! I'm going to try and add some squares onto my granny blanket today! What projects are you busy with or needing to finish?

Have a happy and creative Wednesday! xx

"Misty rose" tea coasters

This week I was inspired by the beauty of the Karoo and the beautiful pinks and lavenders of the sunsets that I couldn't resist picking up my MoYa yarn and finding something to crochet.

I decided to crochet some little tea coasters to use on my table for  my tea or coffee cup. They would also make a beautiful gift for a friend or family. I am making a set of 6 to send to a friend in Durban for her birthday.

The design is a "Happy flower" from Attic24 blog. Take a look at her gorgeous blog as she has so many tutorials you can follow to create her designs. http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/

The colours of the MoYa yarn I am using for the flowers are Misty Rose, Strawberry, Mint, Rose Quartz, Lilac and Azure. They are such beautiful colours and it is lovely yarn to crochet with. It is 100 % organic cotton and hand dyed. There are so many other beautiful colours in their catalogue which I cannot wait to try out, http://www.moyayarn.com/

Have a wonderful weekend and happy creating!

Karoo Adventure

There is nothing quite like the Karoo landscape in all of South Africa. It is a place I first visited when I was a student studying and I remember the vast open landscape, fields of sheep, the endless stars in the  night sky, the full moon shining bright in the pitch black night. It is truly spectacular! On our drive from Cape Town to Graaf Reniet the early morning temperatures before the sun rose dropped to minus 4 degrees!

My nephew and his wife and their new little 6 month old baby work and live on a game lodge just outside of the gorgeous little Karoo town of Graaf Reniet. This is the view from their house. So peaceful.

The beautiful church in Graaf Reniet.

I found a cute little wool shop with lots of yarn! I just love this crochet tree!
So many different varieties of cactus.

We went for a long game drive and eventually spotted the magnificent white rhino!

This female cheetah broke her leg in January but the vet was able to save her leg and she is recovering in a boma and will soon be released to be with the male cheetah. Hopefully she will have some cubs! She is so beautiful.

The giraffes and their 2 beautiful babies  who are only a few months old. It was so special watching these little giraffes!

T
The sunsets in the Karoo are absolutely breathtaking!

There is always time for strawberry cupcakes after a game drive.

My beautiful family.

My nephew and his adorable boy!

As the sunset we lit a fire, sipped some wine and laughed and chatted. How blessed we are! What a view!

There is nothing like the Karoo night sky! I felt so relaxed and refreshed.

Roadtrip adventures!

We are off on a roadtrip for a few days into the beautiful Karoo! I am so looking forward to spending time with my  family and relaxing in the  stunning Karoo landscape. We will be exploring new little country towns, antique shops, coffee shops and I hope to find some art and craft too! We will be staying at a game lodge where we will be going out everyday on game drives to see all the animals.

I just love "floretflower" instagram posts! These are Sweet Peas I absolutely love! They start out as warm tangerine/coral colour and then as they age the veins turn an irridescent blue/purple.Pure magic!

Amazing body art painting! Yes we should see giraffe on our game drives!

Have a wonderful week and weekend until next week when I am back with lots of pictures of our roadtrip adventures!

Lets Go!

I'm taking the opportunity to do some scrapbooking this weekend. I have been asked to do a mini baby album for a friend for a very special little baby. I will post pictures and an update of this special project later this month.

I started a scrapbooking course online with Ali Edwards at the beginning of this year. She is an amazing inspiring scrapbooker and I  have  learnt so much from her courses about storytelling and layout. I love her clean, simple layouts which  are not full of  embellishments but are more about telling a story. The scrapbooking course is called, "One Little Word". The word I have chosen for myself this year is  - GO. This is a year of stepping out and being more healthy. I started gym and have a personal trainer who is helping me get fitter and maintain  healthy eating habits.

I GO to pilates/ yoga class which has been amazing! I also have started to run again which gives me time for myself in my busy daily life of Homeschooling my girls and their extra mural activities!

We have decided to GO and travel this year! This has been a dream of mine for years! We have booked our tickets and in September we GO to PARIS and to visit friends in Luxembourg! Lots of planning in the weeks to follow!

Next week is our last week of July school holidays and we Go on a roadtrip to the Karoo to visit my nephew and his family. I am looking forward to spending time with my family and relaxing in  the Karoo mountains. I will have lots of pictures to share and scrapbook!

Have a happy weekend! I hope you find time to relax, be kind, plan a holiday, laugh, have fun and love those close to you!

Winter days with granny squares - challenge!

I first learnt to crochet when I was a little girl of 5 or 6 years old! My Mom taught me and my sisters and we are all still crocheting! Last year at the beginning of winter I decided to crochet a big winter blanket for my bedroom. I spent hours looking at Pinterest granny blankets and I was so inspired! I just couldn't decide on the colours I wanted. Eventually I narrowed it down to 12 colours and a white border! I know - 12 beautiful bright colours! I just love colour!!

The challenge is to finish the granny square blanket this winter!! I have worked out that I need to at least crochet 4 squares a day for the month of July and I will then start crocheting them together with the white border. I want to finish it this winter!

Granny squares are very easy and fun to crochet and a lovely smaller project would be a cushion cover. An easy tutorial to follow to start making a granny square is at Attic24 blog. Go to -

Hello Monday!

"More than anything, I must have flowers always, always." Claude Monet

My lounge is full of beautiful flowers as my husband spoilt me with a beautiful bunch of roses, sunflowers and daisies and I couldn't resist orange and yellow poppies that were about to bloom!

I have just started following "floretflower" on Instagram. She is a flower farmer and has fields of the most beautiful flowers and she  inspired me with her  beautiful pictures to get into my garden this weekend and plant some little foxgloves and pansies! Enjoy her stunning fields of foxgloves and sweet peas!

So happy Monday and today I am forever grateful for flowers and the joy they bring into our lives! Lets think of all the things we are grateful for this week!
